This course is designed for those preparing for the wound care certification. This is the only certification course in the country led by an occupational therapist with the collaboration of registered nurses. This unique perspective offers insights into wound care that you will not find anywhere else.

Objectives

  • Assess and diagnose various wound etiologies and statuses using evidence-based tools and techniques.
  • Interpret relevant lab results and assess nutritional, psychosocial, and functional factors impacting wound healing.
  • Select and apply appropriate wound treatments, dressings, and adjunctive therapies based on wound characteristics and patient needs.
  • Evaluate treatment effectiveness, reassess patient tolerance, and adjust care plans as needed.
  • Educate patients, families, and interprofessional teams on wound management and prevention strategies.
  • Identify evidence-based protocols, legal considerations, and administrative processes to wound care practice.
  • Identify at-risk populations and implement preventative measures to maintain skin integrity.

Registered Nurses & Licensed Vocational Nurses: AppleTree CEU is approved as a provider of continuing nursing education by the Kansas State Board of Nursing. This course offering is approved for 27.0 contact hours applicable for APRN, RN, or LPN relicensure. Kansas State Board of Nursing provider number LT0339-0924.

Course Completion Requirements

To receive contact hours, you must attend the entire education, complete a post-test with a score of 80% or higher, read all assigned material and pre-course modules and completion of evaluation form.
